[Just make a start]
I planned to start this blog years ago. My intention was to write autobiographical stories or short reflections about my love of sewing, embroidery and spinning. The blog was going to be about the role of craft in my life and relationships, and how I create a meaningful life.
Like spinning up this whole fleece of mohair during the Covid shutdowns.
The story was about a goat that my cousin Peter and his partner Suzie owned.
Or smocking this dress to make a little girl happy.
This story was going to be about learning to smock when I was a at high school, using transfer paper and laboriously gathering up the dots. It was also about buying a smocking machine to celebrate my first pregnancy.
But I didn’t write these stories.
or the one that accompanied this freestyle quilting project for Henry.
or my small contribution to this fun feminist project… crocheted by Emma.
I am a seasoned academic author and I have also been writing autobiographical stories for years, mostly on request for family members or as gifts for friends.
I want to share stories like these with new audiences and I am finally making a start. It is never too late to learn a fun skill.
